Kickball, Fries, and Bonfire

On the evening before Easter (Holy Saturday), we invited Samuel Family (New Hope is made up of 7 "family groups," and all staff are associated with one particular group. Ours is Samuel Family!) over for kickball (on the b-ball court), food, and a bonfire. We've done this with them before, and they love it! I'll never forget the first time we roasted hotdogs. I overheard them (picking up the bits and pieces of Luganda I know) worrying that we were going to make them eat dog. :) It only took one bite to get them hooked on all that nitrate-pumped, MSG-ridden nastiness!

Anyway, here are some photos of our evening. The lighting was magical.

The other half are sitting at the other table, along with Ava

I had to include this blury photo because it captured the mood

We really do love these kids. It's incredible to watch them grow up, mature, learn. Some break your heart, but the joys truly outweigh the sorrows.

That looks like a lot of fun.

Who in the world came up with the name hotDOG anyway? Calling it a weenie isn't all that appetizing either....

I vote we should come up with a new name for the things.

Ugh. It looks like I'll have to become better at sports in the two weeks before I arrive :) Eh... good way to loose these freshman/sophomore ____ lbs!

Wow! And laughing at the eating dog worries. I can't imagine how they might have been trying to sort out how they could politely extricate themselves from that one.
