Today the kid in me took over my better judgment. I looked at the lake of mud in the road beside our house... I looked at the wonder in my children's eyes... and all I could see were those mud pies I crafted with passion as a young girl during the rainy winters of northern California.
The adult in me cringed a few times--especially when Ava's splashing got wild and landed her face-first in the mud.
But mostly I just laughed and admired their ability to squeeze the last drop of pleasure out of the moment.
I think the kid in me should take over more often.
