Perhaps The Best 25 Cents I Ever Spent

Is there anyone who doesn't adore The Very Hungry Caterpillar? I found this brilliant onesie at the bottom of a muddy mound of baby clothes a Saturday or two ago at market. No one can ever be sure if all the stains on a piece of market clothing are washable or permanent. But for 25 cents, this fabulous find could hardly be considered a risky purchase! I abhore Saturday market. People don't usually display their goods until the heat of the day wilts you, and all the stares and snippets of conversation I can pick up point to the fact that I indeed am white (shocker). It's amazing how quickly being the minority can feel "normal," but stares, name-calling, and rash assumptions never do. Market seems the place to find all these. But this little treasure made it a triumphant outing! And the sun, the stares...everything... simply melted away.
