Happy Eater

Today Tai turned 6 months. What?! Is it already time to for first teeth, first foods, and crawling? It was not long ago that I was praying this day would actually come. Well, it has arrived, and today we celebrated Tai’s entrance into this new season with his first “meal.” Actually, it was about a half tablespoon of pureed bananas, half of which ended up on his bib and face! But we had fun! Even Ava was cheering Tai on as he slurped up the spooned goodness.
In terms of Tai’s physical development, he is sitting very well and is becoming an expert in “scootching”! His amazing determination to grab anything in his view will get him crawling rather soon we think. Ava is learning to say “No, Tai!” too well, now that her brother has begun to grab hold of her toys, dress, hair… ☺. Her big sister skills are kicking in!
The wonderful lady who washes our laundry brings her 4-month-old son to work every day. Ugandan babies have been proven to develop more quickly (something to do with the “exercises” their mothers do with them), so he is already sitting too. Sometimes the two boys—Tai and Andrew—just sit and stare at each other and grab for whatever we put in front of them. We get such a kick out of watching them do very little, really! It won’t be too long before we have to keep a close eye on them to see where their chubby legs take them!
